Cycling

The Southern-Bohemian landscape offers good opportunities for recreational cycling, both on quiet roads and on field and forest paths. Throughout the entire region measured or signposted cycling trails of various lengths have been spread out. These trails lead you past lakeshores, along wood paths to small villages and along small winding roads past historical towns. In various place one can deviate from these trails and get to know the landscape better via marked local trails.
Hiking

A short walk or hiking for the whole day............Directly from the Guesthouse you find various shorter or longer hiking trails. Enjoy local architecture and restful nature along the way. Those who like an early walk or a walk during dusk have a good chance of running into deer, hare, wild boar and birds of prey….
Canoeing and rafting

On the Vltava, the Otava and the Lužnice sports-lovers can enjoy canoeing or rafting. The Vltava and the Otava are rivers where you can admire from your canoe castles and medieval fortresses and little villages along the river banks. The Lužnice is a very winding river. At the upper end you mainly cross an open landscape with many meadows and little fall; at the lower end the river flows through a ribbon of woods. All these rivers are suitable for beginners, but at the same time not at all dull for more experienced paddlers. Stretches at the upper end of the Vltava and the Otava are bound to be difficult, especially during the early season. In our Guesthouse we provide descriptions of the trips you can make. Quad driving

The quad tour is a guided tour which will last 4 to 8 hours. You can drive a quad yourself. If you don’t want to drive yourself or if you don’t have a full current driving licence, you may ride as a passenger (12 years or older). Before starting you will be fully instructed, prior to commencing. Then you have time to test the quad in an easy area. After this you will start your adventurous tour which leads you through the forest, past wide meadow and nice little rivers. An experience you will never forget.
City trip / Shopping

There are various beautiful towns to be found within an hour’s travelling by car. See also towns described earlier.
Swimming

In the region of our Guesthouse you find a lot of beautiful lakes that invite you to a wonderful swim. Of course you can also use the swimming-pool of the Guesthouse. If the weather is a bit off you can also visit the indoor swimming-pool in Horažd’ovice.
Fishing

Those who love fishing can have great fun in the Czech Republic: throughout the country you find quietly flowing brooks finding their way through the forests. The country also knows wildly swirling rivers and lakes with a variety of fish. The traditional fish in the Czech Republic is carp (to be found in stagnant water). In the brooks coming from the mountains it is mainly trout.
In some fishing areas you can fish throughout the year. Some waters, however, are protected and closed in certain periods for angling.
If you go fishing in the Czech Republic you need a licence. You can obtain one with us at the Guesthouse. To obtain such a licence you ought to identify yourself with a valid passport and possess a fishing licence of your home country.
Horse riding

The surroundings of the Guesthouse are admirably suited for horse riding, especially in summer when the landscape is really beautiful. Nearby the Guesthouse there are plenty of possibilities to rent a horse for a guided tour in the nature. A great experience for both riding beginners and more advanced horse riders.
Tennis

On one of the outdoor courts in Blatná at 8 kms.
Visiting castles
Besides castles such as Orlík and Hluboká ( mentioned earlier in the chapter “surroundings”) the Guesthouse has information about many other castles which are well worth visiting.
Cross–country skiing

Directly from the Guesthouse you can cross-country ski along the marked cycling trails. Going into the Šumava direction you find prepared loipes (trails for cross-country skiing).
Skiing

In the Šumava there are a great many skiing- and cross-country skiing trails with various degrees of difficulty. Cable-cars, ski-lifts and restaurants are amply available. This makes the Šumava one of the most suitable wintersport areas in the Czech Republic.

Kramolín (3,6 kms. of piste, 4 lifts, 45 kms . of trails for cross-country skiing) Zadov-Churáňov (6 kms. of piste, 8 lifts, 80 kms. of trails for cross-country skiing) Železná Ruda-Špičák (5,5 kms. of piste, 9 lifts, 60 kms. of trails for cross-country skiing)

In your snow boots or with your snowshoes (raclets) strapped to your feet you can walk in the snow for hours on end through a wonderful and unspoiled landscape.
